Environmental Resources

Environmental well-being or how we feel about our environment directly impacts our quality of life. It is about recognizing our responsibility for the quality of our air, water and earth. It is also about our social environment, how we respect others with different backgrounds and perspectives and how to create an environment where we are free to exchange ideas and information.

RamsWay

RamsWay is a series of routes connecting key locations on each campus such as classroom buildings, libraries, residence halls and parking decks. Special attention was paid to discern paths with adequate lighting, existing emergency phones, low landscaping, video surveillance and more.

VCU Recreation and Well-being Outdoor Adventure Program

The program offers students trips and activities, a bike shop, equipment rental, books, maps, videos and trail guides. Learn more about the Outdoor Adventure Program.

Smoke and tobacco-free campus

VCU is committed to providing an environment that is free of known health hazards and encourages healthy habits among students, patients, faculty, staff and visitors. Through education and advocacy, the Smoke and Tobacco-free Campus policy is designed to reduce tobacco use as well as tobacco-related fire hazards and litter in the VCU community.

⬥ VCU Community and Learning Gardens

VCU Community and Learning Gardens strive to provide faculty, staff and students with space to grow their own food and flowers through our MCV Community Garden. At our Monroe Park Campus Learning Garden, we work with the VCU and Richmond communities to increase access to healthy food as well as provide education around how healthy food can be grown and prepared.

VCU Safe Zone

VCU Safe Zone reduces homophobia and heterosexism on the VCU campus, thereby making our campus a safer and freer environment for all members of our community regardless of sexual orientation. Learn more.

VCU Sustainability

Sustainability improves the quality of our lives and preserves resources for the future. However, living sustainably is a complex challenge that requires bold and actionable steps. As a nationally prominent institution known for shaping and impacting human health, VCU plays a vital role in developing solutions that affect environmental health and solve the challenges facing society.

Learn more sustainability.vcu.edu and about the development of our first ONE VCU Sustainability Plan, which will identify the path forward for VCU and VCU Health to sustainably deliver on our mission as well as support the well-being of future generations.
